Doped bentonitic grouts for implementing performances of low-enthalpy geothermal systems

چکیده
Background Energy is a fundamental condition for the social growth of the community, being an essential ingredient for almost all human activities and services. During the past decade, the energy policy has been working towards more environmental-friendly renewable power plants in order to achieve maximum advantages and/or fewer impacts from the exploitation of fossil-fuel resources (Kalaiselvam and Parameshwaran 2014). Efforts have been concentrated mainly in the field of applied solar and wind energy (generally promoted by many subventions), and geothermal energy played comparatively a less prominent role among renewable sources. Although anomalous geothermal fluxes useful for exploitation are present in specific geological settings, there is a worldwide incredible potential related to low-enthalpy geothermal energy that is, at present, scarcely considered in many countries (Banks 2012 and references therein). In this regard, primary reasons are the lack of scientific-technical background in the field of low-enthalpy geothermal resources, coupled with the absence of adequate basic information of Abstract

Assessment of Geothermal and Solar Hybrid Power Generation Technologies in Turkey and Its Application to Menderes Graben
The basis of this study is the widespread existence of low enthalpy geothermal resources in Turkey. The usage of low enthalpy geothermal resources in balneology, district heating and green house heating has made Turkey one of the primary consumer of geothermal energy in the world. However, the utilization of low enthalpy geothermal resources in geothermal-solar hybrid systems for electricity ge...

Introduction High enthalpy geothermal systems have been harnessed for electrical power generation for over a 100 years. While the classification scheme for low, medium, and high enthalpy systems varies for different authors (Axelsson and Gunnlaugsson 2000; Benderitter and Cormy 1990; Hochstein 1990; Kaya et al. 2011; Muffler and Cataldi 1978; Nicholson 1993), reservoir temperatures above 150–22...
متن کاملDown-Hole Heat Exchangers: Modelling of a Low-Enthalpy Geothermal System for District Heating
In order to face the growing energy demands, renewable energy sources can provide an alternative to fossil fuels. Thus, low-enthalpy geothermal plants may play a fundamental role in those areas— such as the Province of Viterbo—where shallow groundwater basins occur and conventional geothermal plants cannot be developed. Thismay lead to being fuelled by locally available sources. The aim of the ...
متن کاملReview of Deliverability Models Used in Geothermal Reservoir Simulations
Production wells on deliverability are often used in modelling geothermal fields, especially for simulations of future scenarios. The mass flow rate is calculated by multiplying the productivity index by mobility and the difference between flowing bottom-hole pressure and the reservoir block pressure. Here three options are considered for calculating the bottom-hole pressure: (i) constant, (ii)...
متن کاملEfficiency of Geothermal Power Plants: a Worldwide Review
The conversion efficiency of geothermal power developments is generally lower than that of conventional thermal power plants. Confusion can be found in literature concerning the estimation of this conversion efficiency. Geothermal power plants conversion efficiency estimates that is based on the enthalpy of the produced geothermal fluid can be the most desirable for use during the first estimat...
